Session Title: “ESG — Efficient or not?”
Slush team intro to session: “Environmental, Social and Governance criteria is used to evaluate a company’s social and environmental conscientiousness. As with many new policies, the reception has been mixed. Some are positive while others are suspicious. Norrsken VC’s Tove Larsson, Union Square Ventures’ Albert Wenger and Pale Blue Dot’s Heidi Lindvall will walk us through ESG criteria and why it is or is not a beneficial way to judge a company’s social and environmental impact.” Moderated by the wonderful Amanda Feldman (Head of Impact, Maze)

Notes:
(1540) Union Square Ventures’ Albert Wenger shares an anecdote to illustrate “how hard it is to think about some of these things”
Makes the point (1615) that “ impact is actually really hard to understand”…
//transcribe and share this part, alongside other highlights// ….
My take → this session confirms the direction in perspective of the recent thesis research, in that contradiction management lens are indeed needed in order to be able to handle the complexities of “impact” and “ESG” and “climate”
